Book Fair is November 1st - 9th

posted Oct 28, 2010 8:29 AM by Kirsten Newman   [ updated Sep 2, 2011 8:56 AM ]

The Book Fair is a much anticipated yearly event at Mayo.  This year the PTA is happy to announce that we will not be depositing the profits into the general PTA account.  We have set a goal of earning a Smart Board for the school, and giving our Librarian the remaining funds to purchase much needed books for the school library.  By taking all of our earnings in Scholastic dollars we will be doubling our profits and therefore be able to provide more to our school.

Please help us reach our goal by supporting this year's Book Fair.  Below is a link to our official Book Fair website where you can find information on when your child's classroom will be going down to the Fair.  Parents are welcome at the school to shop the Book Fair at anytime during Book Fair hours.  The Book Fair will also be open on November 9th from 6 - 8pm for those unable to attend during the day.  The PTA will be hosting guest speaker Dawn Sulmasy for an interactive child nutrition seminar that evening from 7 - 8pm.  We hope that all of you will be able to join us!

Pajama Day Success

posted Jan 7, 2010 9:14 AM by Kirsten Newman   [ updated Sep 2, 2011 8:57 AM ]

On December 23rd students and staff donned their favorite pajamas for Paw's Pantry and the success was more than hoped for.  The children were delighted to see that their teachers and staff members had also participated in the event.  After the initial fun of seeing everyone in their pajamas it was business as usual, and this lack of disruption to the school day may allow for Pajama Day to become a yearly event.  With the items collected we will be able to drastically reduce our Paw's Pantry budget which will allow us to provide more for your children.  Thanks to all who contributed to the event's success.  Here is a list of what we collected:

Tissues - 220 boxes

Paper Towels - 85 rolls (important to the school nurse because she cannot use the recycled brown towels for open wounds)

Hand Soap - 68 bottles + several large refills

Hand Sanitizer -  50 bottles

Disinfecting Wipes - 80 bottles

We also collected $11, white board markers, ziploc bags, highlighters and glue sticks.
